“Heart-rendingly touching,” says The Sunday Times (London), describing soprano Janinah Burnett, an artist of fearless creativity, poignancy, and vocal lushness.
Ms. Burnett has sung with the Metropolitan Opera, Théâtre du Châtelet, Opera Carolina, Teatro Nacional de São Carlos, Arizona Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Cape Town Opera and New York City Opera. A performer in other realms, Janinah made her film debut in Spike Lee's Red Hook Summer, and self-produced and arranged the mixed-genre opera "Somewhere There's Music." A graduate of Spelman College and the Eastman School of Music, Janinah was the Winner of the Los Angeles Theater Ovation Award for her performances of Mimì in Baz Luhrmann's Bohème on Broadway. Janinah’s critically acclaimed debut album “Love the Color of Your Butterfly” was presented by VHO as a sold-out live show in 2022.
